Hello! I am so glad you stopped in to visit. I would like to tell you a little about myself. I live in Niagara Falls, New York. My husband Ed and I have been married for 35 years. We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Ed loves to hunt, travel and visit with friends, so I get a lot of inspiration from nature for my artwork.
I belong to the Niagara Decorative Painter's Guild and have made many new friends there. I have always loved to draw and began taking decorative painting classes in 1995 with Joyce Aikens, a local teacher. I took as many classes as I could, sometimes for the experience of a new technique and sometimes just for the project and company of other painters. I enjoyed each and every class.
One of the new techniques I tried and fell in love with was Pen and Ink with Oil Rouging taught by
Mary Owens. It combined my love of drawing with color. When I first saw Mary Owens' designs I thought I would never be able to paint them but, with the encouragement of my painting teacher and Mary. I found that the technique was 100% correctable and I wanted to paint more of them.
Mary offered a certification seminar in 1999 and I signed up for it. One of the things she asked us to do was to bring in things we had been working on at home on our own. I was having a problem with a design, so I brought the unfinished piece to the seminar. After some input from Mary and the class, I published my first pattern packet. I went on to become a Certified Mary Owens Teacher and am designing more pattern packets to teach. Pictures of my designs can be found here on this website.
